On December 21, 2024, security sources in Abyan province, southern Yemen, reported a significant victory as joint security and military forces, aligned with the Southern Transitional Council, successfully seized an Al-Qaeda camp in the region.

According to a statement from the Abyan Security Directorate, the coordinated operation involved units from the security forces, the Security Belt, and the Abyan Axis, who stormed the Al-Qaeda camp located in the "Sari Valley" of the "Khabar al-Maraksha" area in the Ahwar district.

The security statement confirmed that the joint forces executed a surprise military operation, effectively ousting Al-Qaeda militants from the Sari Valley and completely taking control of the camp.

The operation was led by Colonel Haidara Al-Sayed, commander of the Security Belt in Abyan, and Colonel Ali Hafin Al-Marqashi, deputy director of Abyan Security and acting head of the security directorate. They established military and security positions around the Sari Valley camp to ensure ongoing stability in the area.
