Military sources in Taiz, southwestern Yemen, reported on December 23, 2024, that fierce nighttime clashes erupted between Yemeni army forces and Houthi militants, classified as a terrorist organization internationally.

According to sources speaking to "Barran Press," the fighting occurred in the northern and northwestern fronts of the city following an attempted infiltration by Houthi fighters backed by Iran.

The clashes, which lasted over two hours and involved heavy and medium weaponry, resulted in reported casualties among the Houthis. Local sources noted that Houthi ambulance crews were seen transporting the wounded to Al-Rifai Hospital, located between the conflict zones and Houthi-controlled Hawban.

In recent days, the Yemeni army in Taiz has thwarted three attempts by Houthi militants to infiltrate army positions, along with an assault in one of the province's fronts.

The media center for the Taiz Axis stated that during the past ten days, army units successfully repelled these infiltration attempts and engaged in various firefights, returning fire and targeting Houthi artillery positions, which reportedly led to the death of at least one Houthi fighter.

These confrontations coincided with Houthi drone attacks targeting residential neighborhoods and villages in the western rural areas of Taiz.
