The Yemen national football team concluded its participation in the 26th Gulf Cup, hosted in Kuwait, with a historic victory over Bahrain, winning 2-1 in their final group stage match on Saturday at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
This victory marks Yemen's first win in the Gulf Cup since their debut in the tournament during the 16th edition in 2003.
Yemen took the lead in the 41st minute with a powerful shot from Nasser Mohd, which was deflected into Bahrain's net by defender Ibrahim Al-Khayal.
Bahrain equalized in the 62nd minute through forward Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, who capitalized on a defensive error. However, Yemen's Haroon Al-Zubaidi regained the lead in the 88th minute by redirecting a cross from Abdulmajid Sabara, sealing the win for Yemen.
With this result, Yemen finished third in the group, following Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, while Iraq placed last after losing to Saudi Arabia 3-1 in another match.
