MARIB, Yemen — On January 3, 2025, a large solidarity rally was held in Marib, northeastern Yemen, to express anger over the recent arson of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza. The demonstration, which took place following Friday prayers, drew hundreds of participants who voiced their support for the Palestinian people and condemned ongoing Israeli actions in the region.
Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans denouncing the Israeli occupation and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause. A statement issued during the rally condemned the attack on the hospital, which resulted in the deaths and arrests of medical staff, branding it a grave violation of international law.

"We express our profound outrage and absolute condemnation of the heinous crime of storming and burning the Kamal Adwan Medical Hospital," the statement read. It emphasized that targeting medical facilities constitutes a war crime against humanity that warrants accountability before international courts.
The rally called on human rights organizations to intervene urgently to ensure the safety and protection of hospitals and medical personnel, as well as to facilitate the rehabilitation of affected facilities and the release of detained healthcare workers.
Participants urged the International Criminal Court to expedite a comprehensive investigation into crimes committed across Palestinian territories and to pursue those responsible, including high-ranking officials like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The demonstrators reiterated their demand for the international community, particularly the United Nations and the Security Council, to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities in halting Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. They stressed the need for safe corridors to deliver humanitarian aid, especially as the humanitarian situation deteriorates further due to harsh weather conditions.
Residents of Marib have consistently expressed solidarity with the Palestinian cause, organizing rallies and events over the past year in response to what they describe as a brutal and destructive war against the Palestinian people, supported by unprecedented Western backing.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military campaign in Gaza has resulted in over 145,000 Palestinian casualties, primarily women and children, along with more than 10,000 missing persons amidst widespread destruction and famine—situations characterized as among the worst humanitarian crises globally. Despite international calls for ceasefire, Israel continues its operations, disregarding UN resolutions and court orders aimed at preventing genocide and improving the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
