The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecasted cold weather in mountainous and desert regions, with mild, rainy conditions along the coasts for the coming hours on January 8, 2025.

In its daily bulletin, reviewed by Barran Press, the center reported that cold to very cold conditions are expected in the mountainous provinces of Saada, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, and Al-Bayda, while relatively cool to cold weather will prevail in the highlands of Ibb, Al-Dhale, Lahij, Abyan, Hadhramaut, and Al-Mahra.

The expected temperatures for early Thursday morning are projected to be two degrees Celsius in Amran and Dhamar, and three degrees in Sana'a, Saada, and Al-Bayda.

The center also indicated a possibility of mist or fog developing in parts of Ibb, Taiz, Lahij, Abyan, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and Raymah provinces during the night and early morning, along with the formation of low cumulonimbus clouds during the day.

Coastal areas are expected to experience partly cloudy skies over the Socotra Archipelago and the eastern and southern coasts, with the likelihood of light, scattered rain in some areas. Moderate to brisk winds are expected along the southern western coast and in the Gulf of Aden, reaching speeds of up to 25 knots, which may cause rough seas and increased wave heights.

In desert regions, clear and relatively cool to cold conditions are anticipated during the night and early morning, transitioning to partly cloudy skies during the day with moderate winds that may occasionally stir up dust and sand.

The National Center warned citizens in mountainous areas to prepare for the cold and very cold conditions expected during the night and early morning hours. It also advised farmers to take precautions against the effects of severe cold on crops and urged livestock herders and beekeepers to protect their animals and bees.
