Intensified Houthi Attacks Force Families to Flee Hanakat Al-Masoud

AL-BAYDA, Yemen — Amid relentless drone and artillery strikes, the Houthi group, classified as a terrorist organization, has intensified its assaults on Al-Hankah Al-Masoud in Qifa Rad’a for the third consecutive day, forcing dozens of families to evacuate the village.

Tribal sources reported to Barran Press that the ongoing bombardment has compelled many families to leave their homes and seek refuge in nearby areas due to the unyielding attacks targeting civilian residences, disregarding the presence of women and children. This has resulted in significant destruction, including damage to homes of worship and the displacement of numerous families.

The intensified shelling follows days of what the Houthis labeled a "brutal siege" on the village, during which they deployed substantial military reinforcements and detained several local residents under what sources described as "fabricated accusations." Reports indicate that the group has cut off access to water, food, and medical supplies for the villagers.

As the bombardment continues, sources have highlighted a catastrophic deterioration in the humanitarian situation, particularly affecting children, women, and the elderly. Many families have fled to Wadi Thah, seeking safety from the violence.

The Houthis have reportedly issued an ultimatum to the remaining families in Al-Hanakah, urging them to evacuate in preparation for the village's destruction. This tactic of forcing civilian displacement has drawn comparisons to Israeli military strategies in Gaza, where intensified airstrikes are used to compel residents to flee before further military operations.

In a prelude to expanding their offensive, the Houthis accused local tribes of harboring "takfiri elements," vowing to continue their "brutal campaign" against anyone perceived as a threat to security.

Activists from Qifa have alleged that the Houthis aim to apprehend youth from the Al-Masoud tribe who are involved in Quranic education, attempting to suppress such activities through intimidation and armed campaigns.

Earlier this week, the Houthis launched a large military operation against the Al-Masoud tribe in Al-Hanakah following an incident where one of their vehicles came under fire from locals frustrated with the group's actions.

Tribal sources noted that the situation escalated after the Houthis imposed a tight blockade on the village, located about six kilometers from Rad’a city and only two kilometers from the Al-Qusair military camp.

Despite facing heavy bombardment, local tribesmen have attempted to defend their community using personal weapons. However, the Houthis have responded with intensified shelling, causing destruction across neighboring villages and resulting in civilian casualties.

As the attacks persist, graphic videos have circulated showing the devastation in Al-Hanakah, including the destruction of homes and mosques. Initial reports from human rights sources indicate that the ongoing siege and random shelling have led to one fatality and twelve injuries, including three women, with over thirty homes partially damaged and eight completely destroyed, alongside the bombing of two mosques.

According to tribal sources, the Houthis have thwarted all mediation attempts led by local elders seeking a resolution. Efforts to negotiate between the Al-Masoud tribe and the Houthis have been hindered by the group's intransigence and intentions to storm the village.
