Yemeni PM Orders Salary Increases for Teachers

On January 25, 2025, according to the official Yemeni News Agency, Saba, Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak directed measures to improve teachers' conditions, including timely salary payments and approving raises for the 2025 budget.
Bin Mubarak emphasized prioritizing teachers' salaries before government officials' and ensuring fairness. He stressed the importance of addressing job duplication, absenteeism, and unifying local authority efforts to support public sector teachers' salaries.
The Prime Minister highlighted the resilience of teachers during the war and the need for sustainable policies to support education. Plans include creating a public Yemeni education fund with sustainable resources, seeking private sector and international support.
Since December 2, teachers in Aden, Taiz, and other government-controlled provinces have been on strike, demanding regular salaries, wage structure reviews, and salary increases.
