A 35-year-old Yemeni woman, Aisha Naji Al-Qasha'a, was killed by a landmine planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Nihm district on Friday.

According to the human rights organization "Shohood," the incident occurred while Aisha was herding sheep in Jabal Al-Qarn. Her daughter, Khadija (7), and her uncle, Janah (25), witnessed the explosion and suffered severe psychological trauma.

Shohood strongly condemned the Houthi militia for planting landmines and their failure to provide maps of minefields. The organization highlighted that these mines have resulted in at least 113 casualties in Nihm alone, including women and children, by the end of 2024.

Shohood called for urgent international intervention to clear these deadly devices and provide comprehensive support to the victims, including financial compensation and necessary healthcare.

UN reports indicate that the Iran-backed Houthis have planted an estimated two million landmines across Yemen, causing over 20,000 civilian casualties.
