Yemen's National Anti-Corruption Authority has issued an urgent call to Prime Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak, demanding the immediate suspension of operations at an illegal oil refinery in Hadramout.
In a memo seen by Barran Press and signed by Chair Judge Afrah Saleh Badwilan, the Authority expressed grave concerns regarding the refinery's operation, citing environmental and economic risks, particularly in light of ongoing attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia. The memo further highlighted the lack of safety standards at the facility.
This action follows a recent visit to Mukalla by Presidential Council member Faraj Al-Bahsani, during which concerns about the illegal refinery were raised. Days prior, Al-Bahsani's office revealed the existence of a large illicit oil pipeline extending from Al-Dhaba oil storage to a makeshift refinery near the Rayan station.
