On Thursday, a 9-year-old girl, Aisha Ali Bakheet, was killed by a landmine explosion in Beit al-Faqih district of Hodeidah governorate, according to human rights sources. The Yemeni Mine Observatory reported on X that Aisha was herding sheep in the "Amzahar" area when the blast occurred, caused by a landmine planted by the Iran-backed Houthis.

UN reports estimate that the Houthis have planted approximately two million landmines across Yemen, resulting in over 20,000 civilian casualties, mostly women and children. Human rights organizations have accused the group of transforming Yemen into the world’s largest minefield and urge them to provide landmine maps to demining teams to prevent further tragedies.
