Military sources reported that Iran-backed Houthis deployed drones to strike mine clearance equipment at the eastern entrance to Taiz city in southwest Yemen. According to Barran Press, the targeted gear belonged to HALO Trust Yemen, which was surveying the Kamb neighborhood for landmines—previously planted by the Houthis before their withdrawal from the area years ago.
Engineering teams from the Taiz Military Axis and the Saudi-led "Masam" project are actively working to remove mines and ensure safe passage for travelers. The Houthis’ attack appears aimed at disrupting these efforts and sealing off the city’s only access route.
At dawn, fighting broke out between Yemeni army forces and Houthi fighters on Taiz’s northern front, accompanied by Houthi artillery shelling in the Zanouj, Arbaeen, and Asifra districts.
