Yemeni customs officials at the Sarfait border crossing with Oman seized prohibited military wireless communication devices on March 10, 2025, according to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).
Six Chinese-made V-35 PETUNJUK PEMAKAIAN devices, originating from Indonesia, were discovered concealed within a clothing shipment. These devices are restricted to military use or require prior permits due to their potential military applications.

Ahmed Bakrit, Director General of Sarfait Customs, highlighted the ongoing campaign against smuggling and acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Authority.
The Sarfait border is a known route for smuggling, including military equipment and drones, to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

A UN report has indicated that entities in Oman are supplying the Houthis with military equipment, despite Oman's official neutrality.
In an effort to curb the Houthis' arms supply, primarily reliant on smuggled shipments from Iran, the UN expanded its arms embargo on February 28, 2023, to cover the entire Houthi group.
