Iran-backed Houthis shelled the eastern entrance of Taiz on Tuesday, temporarily halting movement in and out of the city, according to Yemeni military sources and the official Saba News Agency. The attack, involving mortar fire, forced the closure of Taiz's only accessible route for approximately 30 minutes.

The incident underscored the ongoing impact of Houthi actions on civilian life in Taiz. Rights reports documented extensive civilian casualties since 2015, attributing 3,021 deaths and 6,361 injuries, including women and children, to Houthi sniper fire, shelling, and landmines.
