Osama Al-Qosaibi, Director General of Yemen's Masam Landmine Clearance Project, sharply criticized the international community's inadequate response to the country's devastating landmine crisis. He specifically condemned the withdrawal of support from crucial mine clearance organizations.

Speaking on International Mine Awareness Day 2025, Al-Qosaibi expressed deep regret over the "reluctance" of certain nations and international bodies to continue funding non-profit mine clearance initiatives in Yemen.

He emphasized that this withdrawal occurs precisely when global solidarity is most needed to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, who are enduring what he described as "crimes committed by the terrorist Houthi militia," including the indiscriminate planting of landmines and the direct targeting of civilians with explosive devices.

Marking the international day, Al-Qosaibi highlighted the thousands of victims of landmines in Yemen, reaffirming Masam's commitment to protecting millions of Yemenis from the "imminent danger" posed by these weapons. He stressed that "for every mine we remove, the Houthi death machine plants dozens."

He pointed out Masam's significant achievements since its launch in mid-2018 under the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, including the removal of over 486,108 explosive devices and the clearance of more than 65 million square meters of land.
