Military media outlets in Taiz province, southwestern Yemen, reported a significant escalation in attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis against Yemeni army positions on multiple fronts within the province on April 7, 2025.
According to a statement by the Media Center of the Taiz Military Axis, " Iranian-backed Houthi forces initiated offensive operations and conducted artillery shelling targeting numerous Yemeni army locations across various combat zones in Taiz.
The statement detailed renewed and intense clashes on the Al-Ahthoub front in the Jabal Habashi district on Sunday evening. These confrontations followed the successful repulsion by the Yemeni army of an attempted infiltration by the Iran-backed Houthis. The ensuing clashes reportedly resulted in the deaths of two Houthi combatants and the destruction of recently established fortifications belonging to the group.
In the Al-Dhabab area, situated west of Taiz city, Yemeni army artillery units responded to Houthi shelling by targeting the source of the attacks. Similarly, retaliatory strikes were executed on the Al-Kadha front in the western countryside of the province in response to comparable artillery fire from the Houthis.
