A tribal elder has reportedly died in a Houthi detention facility in Yemen's Hajjah Governorate, according to local sources. The 70-year-old, identified as Sheikh Taeb Tallah, was allegedly arrested for marrying his daughter to a relative living in Marib, a region outside Houthi control.

Sources told "Bran Press" that Sheikh Tallah, a prominent figure from Hajjah's Washhah district, died in a cramped cell at a Houthi checkpoint. He was reportedly detained while on his way to seek medical treatment for diabetes and high blood pressure.

During his apprehension at Al-Rassa checkpoint, Sheikh Tallah was allegedly subjected to beatings and threats by the Houthi checkpoint commander, "Abu Askar Al-Qadi." This abuse is believed to have severely exacerbated his health condition. An attempt to transport him to Al-Haramain Hospital in Mustaba proved futile, as he reportedly succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

The sources further detailed the circumstances of his arrest, stating that "Abu Askar Al-Qadi" detained Sheikh Tallah at the checkpoint, accusing him, among other things, of intending to travel to Marib. He was reportedly assaulted and confined to a narrow room for over 90 minutes before losing consciousness.
Despite pleas from individuals present at the scene who convinced Houthi elements to allow him medical attention with the promise of his return, Sheikh Tallah died shortly after reaching the hospital.

His family revealed that Houthi authorities had previously tried to apprehend him following his daughter's marriage to a man residing in Marib Governorate. They stated that Sheikh Tallah had consistently refused to comply with summons from the group's local supervisor.
