Amid escalating tensions and a Southern Transitional Council (STC) military mobilization in the resource-rich Hadramaut province, Governor Mabkhout bin Madi traveled to Riyadh on Tuesday
Following an official invitation from Saudi authorities, bin Madi departed from Seiyun International Airport with a delegation of local officials. Hadramaut's local authority stated the visit was "in response to a generous invitation from Riyadh."
Discussions in the Saudi capital are expected to cover military, security, development, and service matters, as well as other topics of mutual interest.

Bin Madi's summons coincides with a military buildup by the UAE-backed STC in Hadramaut, ostensibly to commemorate the ninth anniversary of Al-Qaeda's expulsion from Mukalla. This mobilization has heightened political tensions, particularly given renewed calls for autonomous local governance from tribal coalitions in the region.
Previously, the Hadramaut Inclusive Conference alleged that over 2,500 armed fighters from Aden, Lahij, and Dhale had been deployed to Hadramaut by unnamed parties, warning of a destabilization effort to impose a specific political agenda.
