The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) announced on Monday, May 12, 2025, the signing of an agreement aimed at establishing a fund to support the sustainability of health facilities and build the capacities of the Yemeni Ministry of Public Health and Population within the recognized Yemeni government.
According to a brief statement released by the SDRPY on the "X" platform, the agreement was signed with the Yemeni Ministry of Health at the program's headquarters in Riyadh. The core objectives include creating a fund to ensure the continued operation of health facilities and enhancing the capabilities of the Yemeni Ministry of Health.
The agreement, signed by the Yemeni Minister of Health, Qasem Buhaibeh, and the General Supervisor of the SDRPY and Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, also aims to strengthen cooperation with counterpart entities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the statement added.
The official Yemeni news agency Saba quoted Minister Buhaibeh as saying that the agreement represents a fundamental building block for the sustainable provision of quality health services in Yemen. He emphasized its role in maintaining health facilities and delivering services to the Yemeni people to the greatest possible extent.
Minister Buhaibeh expressed his appreciation for the SDRPY's contributions to supporting and enhancing the capabilities of the health sector in Yemen. He highlighted the program's implementation of numerous development projects and initiatives, reflecting the significant efforts made to contribute to sustainable development, improve the quality of life for the Yemeni people, and raise the standard of medical care provided to them.
The SDRPY commenced its operations in 2018 under a comprehensive development agreement between the Saudi and Yemeni governments. Its objectives include providing sustainable economic and developmental support across various sectors in Yemen.
