Shabwah Defense Forces, affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council, announced on Tuesday the seizure of 8 kilograms of hashish in Ataq, the capital of Shabwah governorate in eastern Yemen.
 
 
According to a statement released by the forces, a security checkpoint belonging to the Second Brigade of the Shabwah Defense Forces in Ataq district successfully apprehended an individual found in possession of the 8 kilograms of hashish. The illicit substance was reportedly concealed with professional expertise.
The statement detailed that personnel at the checkpoint stopped the suspect, identified by his initials M.S.S.M.A., due to suspicious behavior. A subsequent search revealed the significant quantity of hashish, totaling 8,000 grams. The individual was reportedly en route to Aden in the southern part of the country.
The smuggler has been taken into custody, and the seized narcotics have been impounded. Authorities will complete the necessary legal procedures before transferring the suspect to the relevant judicial authorities for prosecution.
