The Houthi group has established three new training camps and intensified trench digging in southwestern Yemen's Taiz Governorate, military and local sources reported Thursday. This activity signals a potential internal escalation by the Houthis, occurring after a reported lull in their Red Sea shipping attacks.

The Iranian-backed group is actively mobilizing loyalists for training at these new facilities, located near 60th Street in Al-Ta'iziyah district, just north of the long-besieged city of Taiz. Barran Press reported three camps specifically set up in the Al-Kassara area, accompanied by aggressive recruitment efforts.
In a concerning development, local sources indicate Houthi leaders are pressuring tribal elders to send youth and even children to these new camps for military training.

Beyond recruitment, the Houthis have ramped up digging trenches and tunnels near front lines with Yemeni army forces. They've also constructed new roads in the mountainous terrain along 60th Street. Houthi leaders are reportedly overseeing these efforts, moving through the areas in heavily guarded, "camouflaged" vehicles.
