Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Marib, Major General Sultan al-Arada, praised the efforts of fellow Council member, Tareq Saleh, for his commitment to "strengthening national unity and bolstering national cohesion in the battle to restore the state." This statement came during a phone call between the two officials on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, according to the National Resistance media.

Saleh had called al-Arada to congratulate him on the announcement of a new medical city in Marib, funded by the Saudi Program for the Reconstruction and Development of Yemen. Saleh characterized the establishment of the medical city and a medical school as a "victory for the national battle against the systematic targeting policy pursued by the Houthis," a group internationally recognized for its destruction of educational institutions.

The announcement of the medical city was made by al-Arada himself during the opening of the first medical conference in Marib on Saturday, May 25. The city will include the existing Marib General Hospital, specialized centers, and a university hospital connected to the College of Medicine at the University of Saba Region.

Al-Arada confirmed that the College of Medicine and the university hospital will be built with funding from the Saudi program, with construction beginning "soon." The project highlights a collaborative approach between Yemeni officials in addressing the humanitarian and infrastructure needs of a region deeply affected by the ongoing conflict.
