Lightning Strikes Kill Woman, Kill Livestock, and Burn Home in Al-Mahwit and Taiz

A lightning strike claimed the life of a woman in Bani Saad district, Al-Mahwit governorate (northwestern Yemen), on Friday, June 28th, 2024, according to local sources.

Sources told "Barran Press" that a lightning strike hit the home of Jamil Ibrahim Sailan Al-Hamali in Bani Saad, resulting in the death of his wife and the loss of several livestock.

They added that another lightning strike burned down the home of Ibrahim Al-Shadidi in the Qarn Masjid area of the same district, confirming that those inside the house escaped unharmed. Locals managed to extinguish the fire.

In Taiz governorate (southwestern Yemen), local sources told "Bran Press" that a lightning strike killed 52 sheep in a mountainous pasture in Al-Salo district.

Scattered areas across Yemen have experienced thunderstorms since mid-June, concentrated in the governorates of Ibb, Al-Mahwit, Remah, and Taiz.
