Lightning Strike Kills Child, Injures Brother in Al-Dhale'e; July Death Toll Rises to 40

Al-Dhale'e, Yemen - A lightning strike claimed the life of a five-year-old child and injured his seven-year-old brother in Al-Dhale'e Governorate (southern Yemen) on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. This brings the total number of casualties from lightning strikes in Yemen to 40 killed and injured since the beginning of the month.

Local sources told "Barran Press" that the lightning strike killed "Mohammed Aadi Mohammed Abdullah" while he and his brother were near their home in the village of "Al-Shaghdarah" in the "Hajar" district of Al-Dhale'e.

In Ibb Governorate, local sources reported that a lightning strike hit a citizen's home in Wadi Bnaa in the Nadrah district, east of the governorate. The strike burned the solar energy system, a television screen, and damaged the roof of the house, though no casualties were reported.

Earlier, "Bran Press" reported the deaths of 28 people, including women and children, and injuries to 10 others from lightning strikes in several governorates. This brought the total number of casualties to 29 killed and 11 injured since the beginning of July.
