Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Othman Majli, proposed on Thursday, August 29, that the governorates of Taiz and Hadhramaut be designated as "summer capitals" for the convening of government meetings and PLC sessions. This proposal was reported by the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

Majli also suggested establishing a police academy in Taiz to accommodate students from the governorate and neighboring areas. He emphasized the importance of paying significant attention to both Taiz and Hadhramaut, particularly in these exceptional circumstances.

In a statement at the end of his visit to Taiz alongside the PLC Chairman, Majli asserted the PLC and government's responsibility to address all of Taiz's needs and preserve its status as a key center and stronghold of the republic. He expressed regret over the significant neglect the "vital and sensitive" governorate has endured.

Majli went on to state, "Those who were raised in Taiz will never be a tail to the horse of Iran." He advised those he described as "Houthis" from Taiz to "not bring calamity to their governorate, from which all Yemenis draw the spirit of the republic and the energy yearning for salvation from the Iranian militias that have brought misery to all of Yemen's governorates."

He urged those he described as "deceived" to return to their senses and not open the door to these militias, which have destroyed the land and people, humiliated Yemeni society through their egregious and severe violations, plundered rights and salaries, devastated the national economy, doubled taxes, and plunged people into hunger and famine.

Majli called on all Yemenis to stand united against the Houthi terrorist militias, who have stolen rights, confiscated freedoms, and murdered and desecrated the blood of Yemen's youth, elders, men, and women. He asserted that victory will belong to the Yemeni people and that the coup will be overthrown.

Concluding the presidential visit to Taiz, Majli stated, "The visit to Taiz and the enthusiasm we witnessed among its people and students brought back memories of the 1980s when we were students in school, reviving in our minds the breezes of freedom and the spirit of the republic."

He added, "Taiz is like the heart of the Yemeni body, and as long as the heart is healthy, Yemen will remain healthy, despite the state of weakness that has afflicted the Yemeni body due to the control of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias over the capital Sana'a."

On Tuesday, August 27, the PLC Chairman arrived in Taiz, his first visit since assuming power in April 2024. He traveled from Aden, declared the temporary capital of Yemen, accompanied by PLC members Othman Majli and Abdullah al-Alimi, and several officials. The visit was met with a large public reception.
