DHAMAR, Yemen - The local authorities in Dhamar province, under the internationally recognized Yemeni government, have issued an urgent appeal for aid to assist residents affected by devastating floods in the Wesab al-Safil district.
The local authority, in a statement received by "Barran Press," declared that Wesab al-Safil is facing a major humanitarian crisis due to torrential rains and flash floods that struck the district on Friday. The statement confirmed that the floods have resulted in the death and injury of dozens of citizens, the collapse of numerous homes, and damage to agricultural lands and roads.
The statement emphasized that the current humanitarian tragedy in Wesab al-Safil necessitates immediate action from all UN and international organizations, as well as humanitarian partners, to rescue lives, provide aid to those affected, and alleviate their suffering.
On Friday evening, Wasab al-Safil district experienced heavy rainfall that led to the deaths of approximately 33 people, the destruction of 23 homes, four vehicles, and several shops in the Jurf and Khisab areas of Bani Musa, Qawir.
