On September 9, 2024, the province of Marib in northeastern Yemen hosted a grand wedding ceremony for 140 grooms from the Yemeni army and popular resistance forces hailing from Dhammar, currently residing in Marib.
The event, organized by the Supreme Council for Resistance in Dhammar, was marked by a festive atmosphere and a significant turnout of family and friends of the grooms. Among the attendees were military and civilian leaders, including the Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Army, General Sagheer bin Aziz.
According to a reporter from "Bran Press," General bin Aziz praised the efforts in organizing the collective wedding, calling it “a testament to social solidarity and a commitment to youth.” He emphasized that “youth are the cornerstone for building the future and elevating Yemen to the ranks of advanced nations,” commending the contributions of the local population to the fight against the Houthi movement, which is internationally classified as a terrorist organization.
General bin Aziz highlighted the importance of effective collaboration to ensure the success of such community initiatives, stating that they “enhance cooperation, solidarity, and social bonds among the people of Dhammar.”
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Dhammar, Mohammed Abdulwahab Maudhah, described the wedding as “a reflection of the values of compassion, unity, cooperation, and solidarity among the people of the province.” He noted that the grooms embody an extraordinary celebration coinciding with the nation’s observance of the 62nd anniversary of the Yemeni Revolution on September 26, symbolizing their pride in this blessed revolution and reaffirming their commitment to its noble principles and goals.
Mohammed Al-Marami, Secretary-General of the Resistance Council in Dhammar and head of the wedding’s organizing committee, stated that this event, the first of its kind for the people of Dhammar, serves “as a gesture of gratitude and duty towards these fighters who have made significant sacrifices for their homeland, including the families of martyrs, the wounded, and those who have been imprisoned by the militias for years.”
