On September 25, 2024, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, the recognized Prime Minister of Yemen, inaugurated the main center of Al-Salam Capital Islamic Microfinance Bank, marking it as the second private bank to establish its headquarters in Marib, located in the northeast of the country.

According to the official Yemen News Agency, Saba, the officials, accompanied by Finance Minister Salem Bin Breik and Central Bank deputy governors Mansour Rajeh and Hussein Al-Dahmashi, toured the facility. They reviewed its various departments, modern infrastructure, and anticipated banking services for clients.

During their visit, both leaders expressed their enthusiasm for the bank's opening, coinciding with the celebrations of the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution. They voiced hopes that the bank would serve as a significant addition to the banking sector in Marib and Yemen as a whole, aiding in the advancement of development.

They affirmed the government and local authorities' commitment to providing all necessary facilitation for investment, highlighting Marib's security, stability, and effective state institutions as attractive features for potential investors.

Ahmad Aishan, Chairman of Al-Salam Bank, and Nabil Al-Shahali, the bank's CEO, noted that the bank's initial capital amounts to 20 billion Yemeni rials and currently provides 100 job opportunities at its main center. They added that over the next five years, the bank plans to open branches across all provinces and activate more than 2,000 points of sale to extend its services nationwide, creating over 600 additional jobs.

Earlier, the Yemen Islamic Microfinance Bank (SYIB) opened its headquarters in Marib at the end of last year, becoming the first private bank to do so in the province and the twelfth bank established in areas under the Yemeni government in recent years.
