The office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen reported on Saturday, October 5, 2024, that a meeting with members of the Yemeni Al-Rashad Party was held to discuss developments in Yemen and the region, proposing steps toward economic recovery and launching an inclusive political process.

In a statement obtained by "Baran Press," the office indicated that the meeting with Al-Rashad members was part of a series of political dialogues it is conducting with Yemeni political parties, civil society, women, and other stakeholders.

According to the UN envoy's office, the discussions will strategically engage with the evolving realities and aspirations of Yemenis at all levels, while continuing efforts to de-escalate tensions and focus on the commitments made by the parties involved.

During the meeting, the envoy discussed developments in Yemen and the region, proposing measures for economic recovery, confidence-building, a ceasefire, and a comprehensive political process. The office noted that additional multilateral meetings are scheduled for the coming weeks.

On December 23 of last year, the UN announced that Yemeni parties had reached understandings to commit to a series of measures, including the implementation of a nationwide ceasefire, improving living conditions in Yemen, and preparing to resume an inclusive political process under UN auspices.

However, the roadmap and peace efforts in Yemen have stalled due to attacks by the Houthis, classified globally as a terrorist group, on commercial shipping vessels in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Gulf of Aden since last November.
