In an interview with Barran Press marking the eighth anniversary of the martyrdom of Major General Abdulrab Al-Shaddadi, Sheikh Abdullah Muhammad Tu'aiman, a prominent leader of the Jahm tribe in Marib, emphasized the significant military and revolutionary legacy left by Al-Shaddadi, describing it as a practical and contemporary leadership experience that can be learned from.

Sheikh Tu'aiman noted that many leaders have followed in Al-Shaddadi’s footsteps, making considerable sacrifices, including some who have fallen in battle while others await their turn.

Reflecting on Al-Shaddadi's role in the fight against the Houthi coup, Tu'aiman stated, “The late leader played a crucial role in confronting the Houthi rebellion against the republic as the commander of the Third Military Region. He led battles against the Imamite advance on Marib and was instrumental in planning and executing operations such as Nasser One and Nasser Two, as well as significantly supporting the liberation of the Mas camp, where he was injured.”

He highlighted how Al-Shaddadi supported the Sixth Military Region in liberating Nihm and advancing toward the Qarn Ben Ghailan area, all while nearing the completion of the liberation of the Sirwah district at the time of his martyrdom.

Describing Al-Shaddadi’s character and virtues, Tu'aiman remarked that the leader was distinguished by a strong and charismatic military presence, coupled with humility and approachability. He combined firmness with patience and bravery with wisdom, qualities that inspired confidence and admiration among his followers.

However, Tu'aiman added that Al-Shaddadi’s spirit was filled with notions of heroism and sacrifice, leading him to take risks and advance to the front lines, despite attempts to persuade him to remain in command centers. He believed that Al-Shaddadi was a martyr on the front lines.

The sheik praised Al-Shaddadi's dedication to his soldiers, stating, “He prioritized the well-being of his troops above his own, often checking on them. Stories of his heroism are numerous, as he consistently led from the front, embodying the bravery of great historical leaders.”

Tu'aiman also spoke of what he called Al-Shaddadi’s “genius” in battle planning and execution, affirming that his practical intelligence helped him unite people and inspire a spirit of sacrifice among them, leading them to the battlefields with determination and courage.

In closing, Sheikh Tu'aiman prayed for Al-Shaddadi’s mercy and acceptance among the martyrs, urging his admirers to remain steadfast in following the late leader’s path until Yemen is liberated from the remnants of the Houthi agenda.

Major General Abdulrab Al-Shaddadi was martyred on October 7, 2016, while leading forces against the Houthi group in the Sirwah front of Marib province.
