Security sources in Taiz, southwestern Yemen, reported on Thursday that intelligence agencies successfully arrested a high-ranking Houthi leader who had recently entered the city.
According to sources who spoke to Barran Press on the condition of anonymity, the security and intelligence authorities apprehended a Houthi supervisor named "Al-Aqil," who previously operated in the neighboring province of Ibb.
The sources revealed that Al-Aqil arrived in Taiz just days ago, accompanied by a local tribal leader whose name is being withheld. He reportedly took advantage of the reopened road connecting the city to the Houthi-controlled area of Al-Hawban.
In recent months, security forces in Taiz have detained various Houthi cells and individuals attempting to disrupt the security situation in the city, according to provincial authorities.
