A joint statement issued on Wednesday by Egypt and Saudi Arabia emphasized the importance of maintaining security and stability in the Red Sea region, while also supporting comprehensive political efforts to resolve the Yemen crisis.

The statement, released after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's official visit to Cairo, underscored that freedom of navigation in the Red Sea is a global necessity, crucial for protecting international interests and mitigating any risks or threats that may affect regional and international security, as well as global trade and the international economy.

Both Saudi Arabia and Egypt expressed their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, highlighting the significance of backing UN and regional efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, which would ensure the unity and stability of the Yemeni people.

In this context, Egypt praised Saudi Arabia's numerous initiatives aimed at promoting dialogue and reconciliation among Yemeni parties, as well as its role in facilitating humanitarian aid access throughout Yemen.

Conversely, the Saudi side commended Egypt's efforts in de-escalating tensions in the region and supporting comprehensive settlement efforts that align with the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
