On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, local authorities in Marib Province, located in northeastern Yemen, convened to discuss leveraging a Saudi grant for the health sector to establish specialized medical centers for heart diseases, cancer, kidney dialysis, and pediatric care.
The meeting was chaired by Marib Deputy Governor Dr.Abd Rabbu Miftah and included health sector leaders and Abdulrahman Al-Saiyari, the director of King Salman Relief Center in the province, along with his supporting team, as reported by the official Yemeni news agency Saba.
Discussions focused on the health situation in the province and the urgent need for several specialized medical centers to address the rising incidence of these diseases, which have resulted in numerous fatalities due to patient's inability to afford travel and treatment costs.
Miftah praised the humanitarian interventions of King Salman Relief Center across various sectors, particularly in health, acknowledging its role in saving lives and alleviating the suffering of displaced individuals and the host community.
He noted that this support reflects the longstanding fraternal ties between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, especially during the current exceptional circumstances the country is facing.
In response, the director of the King Salman Relief Center emphasized the Kingdom's significant commitment to the health sector, highlighting its importance in preserving and saving human lives.
