Abu Dhabi, UAE – Yemeni President of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi, accompanied by council member Othman Majli, arrived in the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi on Friday, November 29, 2024.

According to the Yemeni news agency Saba, Al-Alimi is set to engage in discussions with Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed regarding the latest developments in Yemen, bilateral relations between the two nations, and promising prospects at various levels.

The council president emphasized the significance of this visit, coinciding with the national celebrations of both countries and the current local and regional changes. He highlighted the efforts required to achieve security, stability, and peace in Yemen and the broader region.

Al-Alimi praised the supportive stance of the UAE leadership, particularly Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in standing by the Yemeni people and their legitimate government, especially in alleviating the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Houthi militias backed by the Iranian regime.

This visit comes at a time when the Yemeni government is grappling with a severe economic crisis, alongside ongoing UN and regional efforts to encourage Yemeni parties to sign a roadmap aimed at ending the decade-long conflict.

Just yesterday, the Yemeni Central Bank's Board of Directors urged the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to take "urgent action" to address existing economic bottlenecks to avoid negative impacts on living stability and social peace, particularly concerning salary and service issues that disrupt the Central Bank's operations.
