On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecasted extremely cold weather along with light to moderate rain in various regions of Yemen over the coming hours.
In its daily bulletin, which was reviewed by Barran Press, the center indicated that mountainous areas are expected to experience clear skies and severe cold temperatures, particularly during the night and early morning hours in the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana'a, Dhammar, Al-Bayda, and the highlands of Al-Dhale and Ibb. The minimum temperature in Dhammar is projected to drop to 3 degrees Celsius.
The center also anticipates cold weather in Al-Jawf and Marib, as well as in the highlands of Lahij, Abyan, Shabwa, and Hadramout. During the day, conditions are expected to shift between clear and partly cloudy, with the possibility of cumulonimbus clouds forming in parts of western Saada, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, and Raymah. Fog and mist are likely to develop in the slopes and elevated areas at night and in the early morning.
Coastal regions are expected to see mostly clear to partly cloudy weather, with a chance of rain clouds forming over the northern Tihama plains and the Socotra archipelago. In contrast, desert areas will experience clear and relatively cold conditions, with moderate winds that may occasionally stir up dust and sand.
The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a warning against exposure to cold temperatures in mountainous regions, urging citizens to take necessary precautions, especially for children, school students, the elderly, and workers during the night and early morning hours.
