Local sources reported on Saturday, December 7, 2024, that a civilian was killed and another injured due to the explosion of a landmine in southern Hodeidah, western Yemen. The mine, identified as an "anti-vehicle" type, is believed to be one of the remnants left by the Houthi movement, which is classified internationally as a terrorist organization.
According to Yemen's Ministry of Defense website, September Net, the incident occurred in the Al-Suwidiyah area of the Al-Khawkha district. The explosion struck a truck carrying civilians, resulting in the immediate death of Abdul Karim Abbas and serious injuries to another individual, who was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment.
