MARIB, Yemen — A large solidarity rally took place in Marib on Friday, January 10, 2025, condemning what participants described as the "deafening silence" of the international community that they claim encourages the occupying entity to continue its crimes in Gaza and other Palestinian territories.

Following Friday prayers, demonstrators expressed that the world's indifference to the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza constitutes "shameful complicity" and highlighted the urgent need to revive human conscience and activate international protection mechanisms.

The protestors called on the United Nations and the Security Council to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities regarding the situation in Palestine, reaffirming their support for the Palestinian people's resilience.

In their statement, the protesters condemned the ongoing Israeli crimes against the people of Gaza, including acts of genocide and a brutal starvation policy. They warned against the recent escalation of Israeli actions in the West Bank, emphasizing the systematic killing, arbitrary detention, and illegal settlement expansion that exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and threaten regional stability.

The statement criticized repetitive remarks from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who threatened to turn the Middle East into a hell if prisoners were not released. Protesters denounced such provocative and reckless statements as a blatant disregard for human lives and a clear violation of international law, reiterating the unwavering American bias toward the occupying entity at the expense of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Moreover, the residents of Marib urged the international community to adopt a firm stance against this inflammatory rhetoric, which they claimed undermines peace prospects and ignites tensions in the region.

The rally also praised the recent heroic actions undertaken by brave resistance fighters in the West Bank against the occupying forces, characterizing these acts as a natural and legitimate response to ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.

The statement concluded that these courageous operations reflect the steadfast will and deep belief in the justice of the Palestinian cause, demonstrating that Palestinians will not yield to oppression, displacement, and organized violence but will continue their rightful resistance until achieving their dreams and reclaiming their rights.

For over a year, Marib has witnessed solidarity events supporting the Palestinian people amidst the devastating and brutal war waged by the Israeli occupation, backed by unprecedented American and Western support. Hundreds of citizens from various social and political backgrounds, civil society organizations, and university students actively participate in these protests.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing acts of genocide in Gaza, resulting in over 145,000 Palestinian casualties, mostly women and children, and leaving more than 10,000 missing amid widespread destruction and famine, marking one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.

Despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate end to these actions, Israel continues its assaults, ignoring international calls for accountability and humanitarian intervention.
