Tribes in Yemen’s Al-Baydha Governorate have reaffirmed their commitment to resisting the Iran-backed Houthis, condemning the group’s crimes against civilians in Hanaka Al-Masoud. The tribes dismissed Houthi accusations of terrorism as baseless, highlighting that the Houthis themselves are designated as a terrorist organization by multiple nations due to their attacks on civilians and threats to international maritime security.
The tribes called on the United Nations, the Security Council, and international organizations to take action to protect Al-Baydha's residents from ongoing Houthi atrocities. They also welcomed statements from the United States, France, and the United Kingdom condemning the Houthis’ violent actions in Hanaka Al-Masoud.
The escalation follows a large-scale Houthi military campaign against the Al-Masoud tribes last week. The assault was reportedly triggered by an attack on a Houthi convoy by locals. After four days of heavy bombardment and a relentless siege, the Houthis stormed the village, forcing dozens of families to flee their homes.
