On January 23, 2025, the Yemeni Islah Party criticized Aidarous Al-Zubaidi's remarks as "unjustified and surprising." Al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and head of the Southern Transitional Council, accused Islah leaders of terrorism.
In a televised interview with Sky News Arabia, Al-Zubaidi categorized the Islah Party into two groups, one being "Muslim Brotherhood terrorists by nature," emphasizing the differences between the party and the Southern Transitional Council on issues like terrorism.
Adnan Al-Odaini, the official spokesperson and deputy head of the Islah Party's media department, responded by stating that these accusations are baseless according to international reports. He criticized Al-Zubaidi's misuse of the term "terrorism," which has claimed the lives of several Islah leaders and supporters, particularly in Aden. Al-Odaini noted that this misuse indicates a state of political schizophrenia.
Al-Odaini emphasized the importance of unity during this critical period for Yemen, urging the need for everyone to rise to the challenge. "Islah has extended a hand and continues to make sincere and noble efforts," he said.
Al-Odaini concluded by urging those making such statements to reassess themselves and think before speaking.
Previously, on November 21, 2024, Al-Zubaidi had met with a delegation from the Yemeni Islah Party in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This marked the first public meeting between the party leadership and Al-Zubaidi. The meeting stressed the need for continuous coordination to overcome differences and unite efforts to build a solid national foundation aimed at liberating Yemen from the sectarian Houthi project.
According to the Islah Party's official website, Al-Zubaidi welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of unity and ongoing communication and coordination to achieve these goals. He stated that "restoring the state and ending the Houthi coup should be a priority for all forces and components, which requires unity of ranks and positions."
The Islah delegation, in turn, emphasized the importance of national unity and supporting legitimacy to complete the national battle against the Iran-backed Houthi project and restore the state.
