The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday evening, July 20, 2024, claimed responsibility for airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled sites in the Yemeni city of Hodeida. The Houthis are designated as a terrorist group by several countries.

An IDF spokesperson stated, "Our warplanes carried out strikes against Houthi regime targets in the Hodeida port area in Yemen," according to Al Jazeera.

The spokesperson added that the strikes were "in response to Houthi attacks over the past months," and that "there is no change in the instructions for the home front, and any changes will be announced," he said.

Meanwhile, Axios reported that an Israeli official said the airstrikes were "coordinated with the United States and the international coalition to counter Houthi attacks."

Earlier in the afternoon, powerful explosions rocked the city of Hudaydah following airstrikes. Houthi media reported that the strikes targeted oil storage facilities in the port, resulting in casualties.
