Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Ali Al-Abab met with Ashraf Issa Al-Hadhry, Secretary-General of the Nibras Association, in Marib Governorate (northeastern Yemen) on Thursday, July 25, 2024, to discuss aspects and components of a project supporting children's education in Yemen. The project is being implemented by the association in several governorates across the country, including Marib.
The meeting, attended by project officer Omar Saleh Bahadi and Director General of Education at the Marib Governorate's Education Office Ahmed Al-Abbadi, addressed the project's objectives, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency. The project aims to improve the learning environment in targeted governorates by providing support in areas such as school uniforms, meals, printing textbooks, rehabilitating educational facilities, equipping science and computer labs, and providing office furniture for teachers.
Dr. Al-Abab commended the Nibras Association's partnership and interventions in supporting Yemen's education sector, which has been systematically targeted by the Houthi terrorist militia. He highlighted the importance of strengthening educational capacities in Marib Governorate, which hosts over 62% of Yemen's displaced population. This comes amidst the weak infrastructure of the education sector in accommodating the large number of displaced students and ensuring their right to quality education.
