A series of lightning strikes across Yemen has claimed the lives of 44 people and injured 13 others since the beginning of July, according to multiple sources. The latest incidents occurred on Friday, July 26th, in the provinces of Dhamar (south), Al-Jawf (north), and Hajjah (north), leaving two dead, one injured, and a home destroyed.
In Al-Jawf, a lightning strike partially collapsed the home of Abdullah Al-Nasr in the city of Al-Hazm, the provincial capital, but no injuries were reported.
In Dhamar, a lightning strike killed Fahd Mullah Abdul-Rahim in the Beit Al-Yazidi area of Damet district, while another strike injured Saleh Yahya in the Sahuor Valley of the same district.
In Hajjah, local media reported that a lightning strike killed Ahmed Hassan Al-Wazif in the Khushr district.
These incidents come after a previous report by Bran Press on July 20th, which documented the deaths of 29 people, including women and children, and injuries to 12 others due to lightning strikes in various provinces.
The recent surge in lightning strikes has highlighted the vulnerability of communities in Yemen to extreme weather events, particularly during the monsoon season.
