Israeli Strike Targets Hezbollah Leader in Beirut

A reported Israeli airstrike targeted a senior Hezbollah commander in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday evening, July 30, 2024. The fate of the targeted individual remains unknown. The Israeli military has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Lebanon's National News Agency reported that the airstrike targeted the vicinity of Hezbollah's Shura Council in Haret Hreik. Press reports confirmed the strike was precise, resulting in the destruction of one side of a building containing roughly eight apartments.

In a statement, the Israeli military confirmed the attack, stating that it "precisely targeted in Beirut the commander responsible for the killing of children and several Israelis in Majdal Shams."

The statement added that "at this time, there is no change in the instructions for the home front."
