Local sources reported on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, significant damage to the village of Bani Yous in Hajjah Governorate (northwestern Yemen) caused by flash floods from the Anqan Wadi.

Sources told "Barran Press" that all homes in the village were damaged, ranging from complete to partial destruction and being buried in mud, with the loss of all personal belongings and household furniture.

They reported that the flash floods that swept through the Anqan Wadi and engulfed Bani Yous were unprecedented in the region for decades. The sources relayed appeals from the villagers for assistance, as their homes and belongings were washed away, leaving them homeless and exposed.

"Barran Press" obtained footage showcasing the extent of the damage caused by the floods after they receded, transforming the village into a scene reminiscent of the Libyan city of Derna.

On Monday, "Barran Press" published forecasts from numerical weather models, predicting very heavy rainfall in Hajjah , Hudaydah, and other governorates over a 72-hour period beginning Tuesday evening.
