Saba Region University Launches Capacity-Building Program During Quality Week

Marib, Yemen – On Sunday, November 24, 2024, Saba Region University inaugurated its "Quality Week" under the theme "Quality is the Path to Excellence," celebrating World Quality Day.

During the opening ceremony, University President Dr. Mohammed Hamoud Al-Qadasi announced the launch of a four-phase capacity-building program aimed at enhancing the skills of academic and administrative staff. He stated that the program reflects the university's commitment to developing human resources and strengthening the capabilities of its employees.

"This initiative is a significant step towards achieving our vision of sustainable excellence, positioning Saba Region University as a model for quality in higher education and academic and administrative distinction," Al-Qadasi remarked. He emphasized that since its establishment, the university has prioritized quality standards in all its operations.

Al-Qadasi reaffirmed the university's dedication to this mission, not only to attain academic excellence but also to contribute to the nation's revival and development by graduating qualified professionals equipped to tackle contemporary challenges.

He expressed gratitude for the substantial support from the Presidential Leadership Council member, Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, which has enabled the university to achieve significant milestones despite the ongoing war in the country.

Dr. Abdu Rabbu Miftah, Deputy Governor of Marib, also highlighted the local authority's ongoing commitment to supporting both general and higher education in the province. He stressed that education is the "real battle" that must be won to build a strong nation, fostering generations armed with knowledge and promoting a cohesive society free from sectarian and extremist ideologies propagated by the Houthi militia.

Miftah commended the university's achievements in its short history, noting that quality enhancements contribute to the university's performance and reflect high-caliber academic and practical outputs capable of uplifting the nation.

Dr. Akram Hamadi, Dean of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, outlined the activities planned for Quality Week, including lectures, awareness seminars, training programs, workshops, community meetings, and various student activities. He noted that these events align with the university's declaration of 2024 as the Year of Academic Quality and its expansion in postgraduate studies.

Hamadi emphasized the importance of Quality Week as an opportunity to review institutional and programmatic standards, improve practices, and strive for institutional excellence through strategic thinking and continuous development, working collectively to overcome challenges.
