On December 30, 2024, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, issued what he termed a "final warning" to the Houthi movement, urging them to cease their missile attacks against Israel.

In remarks to the media at the UN, Danon cautioned that the Houthis risk facing a "grim fate" similar to that of Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group. This warning follows a recent escalation in hostilities, including a missile fired from Yemen that landed in Tel Aviv, injuring 16 people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously threatened the Houthis with a strong and decisive response, promising to act against them "with power, determination, and wisdom." In a video statement, he emphasized Israel's commitment to countering what he referred to as the armed arms of the Iranian "axis of evil."

Since November 2023, the Houthis have intensified their attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, as well as launching missile and drone strikes on Israeli territory, with some reaching as far as Tel Aviv.
